Screening for Plagiarism Policy
The Journal of Law and Social Change Review is committed to maintaining academic integrity and preventing all forms of plagiarism and research misconduct. The journal considers plagiarism, duplicate publication, data manipulation, and other unethical practices as serious violations of scholarly publishing standards.
Plagiarism Screening Process
All submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening before entering the peer-review process. The editorial team uses plagiarism detection software to identify similarities between submitted manuscripts and previously published works.
Manuscripts are evaluated not only based on similarity scores but also on the context, originality of the content, proper citation practices, and the nature of any identified overlap.
Similarity Assessment
A similarity report is used as an initial assessment tool by the editorial team. The acceptable similarity level may vary depending on the nature of the manuscript and the presence of properly cited sources.
Manuscripts containing significant unattributed similarities, copied content, or evidence of academic misconduct may be:
- Returned to authors for clarification or revision.
- Rejected before peer review.
- Rejected after peer review if misconduct is identified during the evaluation process.
- Retracted after publication if plagiarism is discovered later.
Types of Unethical Practices
The journal considers the following practices as violations of publication ethics:
- Direct Plagiarism – Copying text, ideas, data, or findings from another source without proper acknowledgement.
- Mosaic Plagiarism – Combining phrases, structures, or ideas from multiple sources without appropriate citation.
- Self-Plagiarism – Reusing substantial parts of an author's previously published work without proper disclosure or justification.
- Duplicate Publication – Submitting or publishing substantially similar manuscripts in more than one journal.
- Citation Manipulation – Excessive or inappropriate citation practices intended to artificially increase citation metrics.
Authors' Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for ensuring that:
- All sources, ideas, quotations, and data from other works are properly acknowledged.
- The submitted manuscript represents original research or original scholarly analysis.
- Any previously published material is clearly disclosed and properly cited.
- The manuscript does not violate the intellectual property rights of others.
Editorial Actions
If plagiarism or other forms of research misconduct are suspected, the journal will conduct an investigation in accordance with its Publication Ethics Policy and internationally recognized publication standards.
Depending on the severity of the violation, the journal may take actions including rejection of the manuscript, notification to relevant institutions, publication of corrections, or retraction of the article.
Commitment to Academic Integrity
The Journal of Law and Social Change Review is dedicated to promoting ethical research practices and maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. Through systematic plagiarism screening and responsible editorial practices, the journal ensures that all published works meet high standards of originality, credibility, and academic excellence.
